Hi! I’m Alfred M. Tamayo, a 4th year BSIT student currently interning at Outsoar PH, passionate about software development, cloud technologies, and continuously learning new things in the tech industry.
Walking into Outsoar PH for the first time felt both exciting and overwhelming. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, and I kept wondering if I could keep up with real-world development work outside the classroom. Meeting new people, adjusting to a professional environment, and seeing how developers collaborate every day made me realize that internships are completely different from school projects.
Experience Even though I was nervous at first, my teammates and mentors created a welcoming environment that slowly helped me become more comfortable and confident. The pressure was real, but so was the excitement of learning something new every day. Looking back now, that first day became the start of a journey that pushed me to grow not only as a student, but also as an aspiring developer.
My internship at Outsoar Ph didn’t just add skills to my resume, it shaped me into a more confident, capable, and passionate designer. I came in nervous, unsure of myself, and unfamiliar with many tools. But I leave with knowledge, experience, real-world exposure, and memories I’ll carry with me for the rest of my career. To future interns, don’t be afraid to step in. The growth that’s waiting for you on the other side is absolutely worth it.
Projects During my internship, our team of five interns followed a rotating leadership setup where each member became the team leader for one week. When it was my turn, I experienced handling responsibilities beyond development tasks. I coordinated with my teammates, helped organize tasks, and made sure our progress stayed aligned with the project goals. At first, the pressure felt overwhelming, but it slowly helped me become more confident in making decisions and communicating with the team.
Learnings This experience taught me that leadership is not about being the smartest person in the room — it’s about helping the team work together effectively. I learned how important communication, patience, and responsibility are in a professional environment. Most importantly, I realized that growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone and accept new challenges.
