The Internship That Made Me Realize I’m a UI/UX Developer

Blog Article The Internship That Made Me Realize I’m a UI/UX Developer Hi! I’m Rey Melyssa B. Campos, a 4th year BSIT student who interned as a UI/UX developer at Outsoar PH. I walked in not knowing WordPress. I walked out having built real things for real clients. Rey Melyssa B. Campos May 11, 2026 Home Intern Blog Nobody Warned Me I’d Enjoy This Ashley Jean Sebastian May 05, 2026 That First Day Feeling Walking into Outsoar PH on my first day, I had zero WordPress experience and absolutely no idea what to expect. I was excited, a little nervous, and honestly just hoping I could keep up. That kind of energy is what pushed me to show up and give it everything. What helped was the team. Everyone was clearly good at what they did, but they never made you feel out of place for not knowing something yet. They were open to our questions, our ideas, even our opinions as interns. That openness made all the difference. It’s hard not to grow in an environment like that. Building Things from Scratch. Literally. When they said our first task was to build a one-page portfolio site with no theme, just shortcode, I won’t lie, I panicked a little. I had zero WordPress experience coming in. But that was exactly the point. It forced me to understand the structure before I got to style anything. From there, we moved on to rebuilding the Outsoar website itself. We started in Figma, went through two full design versions before landing on the final direction, then brought everything to life in WordPress. What made it more than just a design handoff was that we built custom plugins for it. Mine handled the careers and job posting section. Seeing your own work actually power a live company page hits differently than any school project ever did. When Client Work Became My Best Teacher Being assigned to Blissfully Done Events was where everything clicked. This wasn’t a practice project. It was a real business’s online presence, and I was handling it. That weight pushed me to explore Elementor in ways I hadn’t before: different widgets, background image behavior, responsive layout logic. It’s also where I became a containers person. More flexible than grid, and once it clicked, everything moved faster. Our journey began with building our own one-page portfolio site with no pre-built theme, just shortcode. From there, we moved on to redesigning the Outsoar website itself, going through two full Figma design versions before finalizing the direction and bringing it to life in WordPress with custom plugins. My plugin handled the careers and job posting section. We also got the chance to work on real client projects. I was assigned to Blissfully Done Events, where I independently managed the full website build. Starting with zero WordPress experience, handling my own projects is where I truly learned Elementor. Exploring widgets, understanding how background images behave, and discovering why I prefer containers over grid for their flexibility. I also picked up principles I’ll carry into every future project: use as few plugins as possible, and choose percentages over pixels whenever you can. These aren’t things you read in a tutorial. They’re things you figure out through real work. What This Internship Made Me My internship at Outsoar PH was more than just completing hours. It was a period of genuine growth, challenge, and discovery. I came in with zero WordPress experience and left having shipped a portfolio page, a company website, and a full client project. I entered unsure of myself, and I leave with stronger skills, a clearer sense of how I work best, and a real vision of the kind of developer I want to become. Outsoar gave me something beyond technical knowledge. It gave me a space where it was okay to not know everything, as long as you showed up willing to learn. Mistakes aren’t setbacks, they’re checkpoints. Progress doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through patience, honest effort, and the courage to keep going even when things feel uncertain. This experience reminded me of that, and I’m taking every bit of it into everything I build next. From “Hello World” to Real-World Problems

Blog Article From “Hello World” to Real-World Problems Building modern web solutions through code, curiosity, and continuous learning. Julius Zyrell D. Naron May 11, 2026 Home Intern Blog From “Hello World” to Real-World Problems Ashley Jean Sebastian May 05, 2026 Living the Intern Life Starting my internship at Outsoar PH was both exciting and challenging. Moving from academic projects into a professional development environment made me realize how different real-world programming can be. Deadlines, teamwork, debugging, and handling actual system requirements pushed me beyond what I was used to in school. At first, adjusting to the workflow felt overwhelming, but over time I became more confident in my abilities. Every task gave me an opportunity to improve, learn new techniques, and better understand how developers collaborate to build systems that solve real problems. Learnings: One of the biggest things I learned during my internship was that being a developer is not only about writing code. Communication, teamwork, patience, and problem-solving are just as important as technical skills. There were moments when errors became frustrating, but those challenges taught me how to stay focused and approach problems step by step. The experience also helped me improve my adaptability and time management. Working on real projects required responsibility and attention to detail, especially when collaborating with a team and handling tasks with deadlines. More Than Just an Internship Looking back, my internship at Outsoar PH became more than just a requirement or training experience. It became a major step in my growth as an aspiring web developer. It gave me practical knowledge, professional experience, and a better understanding of the industry I want to pursue. Most importantly, it motivated me to continue learning, improving my skills, and building systems that can make a real impact. Projects: During my internship, I became part of the Custom Development team and worked on projects such as the Cooper Web App and Cooper Bot. These systems focused on improving workflow efficiency through automation, scheduling, reminders, and management tools. Working with Laravel allowed me to gain hands-on experience in backend development, debugging, testing, and feature implementation. It was rewarding to contribute to systems actively used within a professional environment because it gave me a clearer understanding of how software development works outside the classroom. I also collaborated on updates for a Sticky Note WordPress plugin, where we improved the registration process and enhanced the registration modal for a smoother and more user-friendly experience. In addition, we added support for anonymous device registration and implemented a feature that links anonymous notes to a user account after login, while also improving access key descriptions for better usability. When Code Gets Hard, I Get Harder

Blog Article We Don’t Talk About How Nervous I Was on Day One i! I’m Remark F. Macasieb, a 4th year BSIT student focused on software development, continuous learning, and creating systems that make a difference. Remark F. Macasieb May 11, 2026 Home Intern Blog When Code Gets Hard, I Get Harder Remark F. Macasieb May 11, 2026 Living the Intern Life Starting something new is never easy, especially when stepping into the real world of the IT industry. As an intern at Outsoar PH, I quickly realized that the transition from school projects to professional development is a completely different experience. It felt like everything I had learned in school suddenly reset the moment I entered the workplace. One of the first challenges I encountered was understanding the technical language used in the industry. During meetings and discussions, I would hear unfamiliar terms and immediately search for their meanings just to keep up. At first, it was overwhelming, but eventually I understood that learning these concepts was part of becoming a developer. Another eye-opening experience was working with modern development tools and frameworks. The technologies and workflows used in real projects were very different from what I was used to in school. For example, while working with Laravel, I saw controllers with little to no code and routes that looked much simpler than expected. In school, we built almost everything manually from scratch, especially in our capstone projects. Here at Outsoar, development became faster and more efficient because of the frameworks, architecture, and strategies the team used. That was when I realized something important: being a developer is not about knowing every term or mastering every framework immediately. It is about being willing to learn again from the beginning, adapting to change, and continuously pushing yourself to grow at a higher level. Wrapping Up During my stay at Outsoar, I realized that this startup company is far more than just a small organization. It is a team of passionate professionals solving real-world problems, wrangling code into masterpieces, and helping students like us become better versions of ourselves. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to experience this environment, learn from skilled professionals, and challenge ourselves beyond the classroom. The lessons, experiences, and memories we gained here will stay with us long after this internship ends. And through every challenge, one thing became clear: When the code gets hard, I get harder — because every difficult problem is another opportunity to grow stronger as a developer. But this internship journey was not only about learning technical skills or understanding frameworks. It was about becoming a professional. Over the past few months at Outsoar, we learned how to collaborate effectively as a team, plan before developing systems, unlearn outdated habits to embrace better practices, manage our time and responsibilities, communicate clearly with clients and teammates, and present ideas confidently even to people who are unfamiliar with technology. Of course, the journey was not always easy. There were days when I felt unproductive, days when I spent hours stuck on a single problem, and moments when self-doubt started to appear. But there were also fulfilling days — days when I successfully implemented a feature on my own, solved a difficult issue, or learned something valuable from experienced professionals. Those moments reminded me why growth is never comfortable. To future interns, don’t be afraid to step in. The growth that’s waiting for you on the other side is absolutely worth it. Projects During my internship, our team of five interns followed a rotating leadership setup where each member became the team leader for one week. When it was my turn, I experienced handling responsibilities beyond development tasks. I coordinated with my teammates, helped organize tasks, and made sure our progress stayed aligned with the project goals. At first, the pressure felt overwhelming, but it slowly helped me become more confident in making decisions and communicating with the team. From Day One to Delivery: An Internship in Web Development

Blog Article From Day One to Delivery: An Internship in Web Development Hi! I’m Jose Rosario, a 4th year BSIT student with a great passion for web development, currently interning at Outsoar Ph. Jose Rosario May 11, 2026 Home Intern Blog Level Up: I Developed Real Websites as an Intern Jose Rosario May 11, 2026 Living the Intern Life Walking into Outsoar Ph for the first time felt like standing at the edge of something big. The company has a culture that treats interns as real contributors not just observers and that pushed me to show up fully every single day. Experience It started with WordPress fundamentals learning how themes, pages, menus, and plugins work together. From there, I built my own portfolio site from scratch, configured essential plugins, and presented the finished product to the team. The Journey Begins Three months felt short, but the progress was anything but small. From building a personal portfolio to managing two live client projects, every step demanded more — and gave back even more in return. The biggest takeaway is not a technical skill. It is the mindset of someone who no longer waits to feel ready before starting. To anyone stepping into their first internship — trust the process, embrace the discomfort, and keep building. The version of you on the other side will thank you. Projects: The work quickly moved from learning to doing. I translated Figma designs into functional webpages, handled assigned tickets, performed WordPress maintenance, and jumped into a rush project including adding products to a live client site. Later, I managed two websites at once: building a client platform from the ground up with all its core pages, while handling revisions and mobile optimization for Outsoar at the same time. Learnings: Working on real projects with actual deadlines taught me things no classroom could replicate. I learned to implement designs with precision, manage tasks across multiple deliverables without losing quality, and communicate updates clearly. Every round of feedback sharpened how I think and how I build and that kind of growth sticks. But looking back now, I can say with full confidence that interning at Outsoar Ph is hands down one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my entire college life. Experience Walking into Outsoar Ph for the first time was both thrilling and intimidating. The company has a warm and welcoming culture, they treat their interns not just as students, but as part of the team. The environment pushed me to grow, collaborate, and step out of my comfort zone every single day. One of the highlights of my experience was being trusted to handle an actual client and manage their website, something I never imagined I’d be doing as a student intern.
