I Started Enjoying the Pressure

We all start somewhere

Walking into Outsoar PH for the first time felt both exciting and overwhelming. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, and I kept wondering if I could keep up with real-world development work outside the classroom. Meeting new people, adjusting to a professional environment, and seeing how developers collaborate every day made me realize that internships are completely different from school projects

Experience Even though I was nervous at first, my teammates and mentors created a welcoming environment that slowly helped me become more comfortable and confident. The pressure was real, but so was the excitement of learning something new every day. Looking back now, that first day became the start of a journey that pushed me to grow not only as a student, but also as an aspiring developer

Turning Hard Work Into Reality

Project Showcase: One of the most memorable moments during my internship at Outsoar PH was participating in a major project milestone and release presentation. After weeks of coding, debugging, testing, and improving the system, we finally saw our project become functional and ready for presentation. Our team presented Cooper Web App v2.5, which introduced new AI-powered features and system improvements. Seeing the application work after all the challenges we faced gave us a strong sense of accomplishment.

Learnings: Presenting Cooper Web App v2.5 taught me that constructive criticism is an important part of software development and professional growth in real-world environments. Although some parts of the project were questioned during the presentation, the experience helped me improve my communication, teamwork, adaptability, and continuous learning skills.

Exploring Tech Beyond the Workplace

Tech Community Experience: Another unforgettable part of my internship journey was attending the Google Developer Groups (GDG) Baguio seminar. It was a great opportunity to learn more about modern technologies and experience the tech community outside the workplace. One of the sessions introduced us to AI tools like AI Studio and how AI is changing modern application development.

Hands-on Challenge: The event became more exciting during the hands-on challenge where participants individually built a system or game within a short time. It was both fun and challenging because it pushed us to think creatively and solve problems quickly. I was also proud because one of the Outsoar PH interns, Ashley Jean Sebastian, won during the activity.

Learning Leadership Through Responsibility

Projects: One unexpected opportunity during my internship was becoming a team leader for one week. At first, I doubted myself because leadership involves communication, decision-making, and responsibility. I had to coordinate tasks, guide my teammates, and ensure our progress stayed aligned with project goals.

Building Confidence: This experience taught me that leadership is not about being the best developer in the room — it’s about helping the team work together effectively. Being trusted with leadership helped me become more confident in communicating ideas, handling responsibilities, and staying calm under pressure.

From Writing Code to Exploring DevOps

Learning Something New: One of the biggest turning points during my internship at Outsoar PH was being assigned to a DevOps role after our team restructuring. At first, I felt nervous because I was more comfortable with coding and backend development. Suddenly, I found myself learning about AWS EC2, deployments, server monitoring, and troubleshooting live environments — things I had only heard about before.

Beyond Coding: As days went by, I started to understand how important DevOps is in real-world software development. I realized that building an application is only one part of the process, while keeping systems stable and maintaining production environments are just as important. This experience pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me see the bigger picture of software engineering beyond just writing code.

A Journey Worth Remembering

From Day One to Last Day: As my internship at Outsoar PH came to an end, I realized how much this journey changed me both personally and professionally. From feeling nervous on my first day to experiencing real-world development, DevOps, leadership, project presentations, and tech events, every moment helped me grow as an aspiring developer. One of the most memorable parts of my last day was the internship completion ceremony, where we celebrated all the experiences we gained throughout the internship. We were also invited to Lingayen Laki Datdo to celebrate the 4th anniversary of Outsoar PH, which made the experience even more special. Lastly, I would like to sincerely thank Outsoar PH for giving me the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience life beyond the classroom.
